Born on February 8, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Robert Glenn and Dora Gary Easterly and the wife of the late William Smith Brown for 56 years. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she cherished her family and her faith in God above all else.
Barbara is survived by her four sons, Robert William Brown (Mimi), Thomas Gary Brown (Heath), Cameron Glenn Brown (Julie) and Roderick Smith Brown (Kristen), her grandchildren William Collins Brown (Cassidy), Grier Easterly Brown (Sarah), Mary Heath Brown Clements (Kyle), Wilkins Smith Brown (Paige), Ellen Wimberly Brown, Scott Robert Brown (Aubree), Brandon Brown Bryson (Andrew), Cameron Littlejohn Brown, Logan Elizabeth Ann Brown, and Peyton Smith Brown. She was blessed with fourteen great-grandchildren: Lily and Forrest (Collins), Mallie, Tate and Bridger (Grier), Ellie, Finley and Scottie (Mary Heath), Ruthie, Smith, and Annie (Wilkes), Luke (Wimberly), and Sully and Sawyer (Brandon). Her family has many wonderful memories of time spent with “Bobbi” especially at Christmas, Thanksgiving, and summer trips to Fripp Island.
A 1949 graduate of Spartanburg High School, Barbara went on to graduate from Winthrop College and received her master’s in education from USC Spartanburg. She taught reading in District 7 for over 20 years. An active member at First Baptist Church for over 50 years, she led Sunday School and served in many areas. She was also a part of The First Presbyterian Church Stephen Ministry and Westminster Presbyterian Church. Her legacy endures in the many lives she touched and the Godly values she imparted.
A private service will be held to celebrate Barbara’s life with Reverend Steve Wise officiating.
The family would like to thank the staff at Eden Terrace for their great love and support over the last several years.
