Barbara Mabry Blackwood passed into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, at the age of eighty.
Barbara was born in Asheville, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Roy Thomas Mabry, Sr. and the late Eleanor Eva Waddell. She was also preceded in death by her husband: Robert H. Blackwood; and her older brother: Philip Mabry.
Barbara, who retired after years of service in the retail industry, called being a wife, mother, and grandmother her most treasured roles. She took great pride in the appearance of her house and enjoyed making her house a home for her family. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was an avid reader. Her granddaughter always held a special place in her heart, and she cherished the opportunity of watching her grow up. To everyone’s surprise, she also grew quite fond of her great grand-dog: Jack, a spirited America Bully mix who brought her many laughs while the two enjoyed a late-night snack. She will always be remembered for the pecan pies she would bake for the holidays and the pride she took in people she loved enjoying her cooking. To meet her was to love her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Left to cherish Barbara’s many memories are her beloved daughter: Angela Blackwood; her granddaughter that she loved immensely: Alexandria Rhinehart; a brother: Roy Thomas Mabry, Jr.; and a sister: Debra Ashley.
Barbara’s wonderful memories will continue to live in the hearts of her family and friends.
The arrangements are entrusted to the care of J.F. Floyd Mortuary.
