Arvella Richards Sellars

Arvella Richards Sellars, 73, of Spartanburg, passed away on Monday morning, December 29, 2025. Arvella was born March 27, 1952, in Woodruff, SC, a daughter of the late J. C. Richards and Cynthia Ellen McMahan Cox. She was married to the late Leroy Butch Sellars for 47 years.

Arvella worked for and retired from Wab-Tec in Duncan, SC and then retired from the US Postal Service. She was of the Church of God faith. Leroy and Arvella lived on Lake Greenwood for a number of years and fishing was an activity that brought them much pleasure!

Surviving is her son, Jimmy Lee Bogan, Jr. (Misty); her grandchildren, Hailey (Jake), Austin, Mackenzie (Sammy), Julia, Alyson (Blaine) and Kamryn; her great-grandchildren, Colton, Dallas, Alayna, Lilly, Beckham, Saylor, and Reid; and her brother, Joe Richards (Terrie). Along with her husband and parents, Arvella was predeceased by her sister, Arlene Johnson.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Monday, January 5, 2026, at Heritage Memorial Gardens, 3901 S. Church Street, Roebuck, SC 29376, conducted by the Rev. Todd Black. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.

The family extends their gratitude to the awesome nurses and staff with Spartanburg Regional Hospice for the special care and tenderness shown to Arvella.
