April Flowers Smith

April Flowers Smith, 91, of Pauline, South Carolina, passed away on September 16, 2026. She was born on April 7, 1935, in Darlington County, South Carolina, to the late William Morris Flowers and Marjorie Sanderson Flowers.

April dedicated many years of her life to education, serving as a schoolteacher before her retirement. She was especially proud to see her former students throughout the years and enjoyed hearing about their lives and accomplishments. Her students remained an important part of her life long after she left the classroom.

Following her retirement from teaching, April worked as a pharmacy technician with CVS. She was also an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching the races. Above all, April was devoted to her family and took great pride in the people she loved.

April is survived by her son, Barry Smith (Susan); her brother, William “Billy” Flowers (Joann); her daughter in law, Sheri Smith; and her grandchildren, Amanda Capps, Alexis Smith, and Abigail Smith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Columbus Bernard Smith; and her son, Bernie Smith.

April’s memory will be lovingly cherished by her family, friends, former students, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her dedication to her students, love for her family, enjoyment of NASCAR, and the many lives she touched will remain a lasting part of her legacy.

A graveside service to honor and celebrate April’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Glenn Springs Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 6001 HWY 215, Glenn Springs, SC 29374.
