Annie Wood

Annie Mae "Ann" Hyleman Wood, 88, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at Wesley Court Assisted Living-Boiling Springs, SC. Born March 22, 1928, in Burnsville, NC, she was the daughter of the late John William and Bertie Lee Taylor Hyleman and widow of John Lawrence Wood. Mrs. Wood graduated from Keller's Beauty School and owned Ann's Beauty Shop in Clifton for 30 years. She was a member of the Ora Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star for 50 years. Mrs. Wood served as pianist for Clifton First Baptist Church for many years and later was a member of Cowpens First Baptist Church and First Baptist North Spartanburg. Surviving are her daughters, Patricia Hasty and her husband Jim of Spartanburg, SC, and Penny Cardell and her husband Ken of Landrum, SC; grandchildren, Jennifer Hasty of Spartanburg, SC, Lawrence Powell (Lauren) and Lindsey Powell, and great-granddaughter, Lola Powell, all of Hilton Head Island, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by six brothers. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Thursday, April 7, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Jack Caldwell. Visitation will follow the services at the Chapel. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southern Hospice Care, 818 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
