Anna Maria Fulton, 89, who resided in Greenville, SC for the past several years, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, in the comfort of her home with her daughter, Kathy, by her side.
Anna, who was also known as Mary, was born on February 25, 1936, in Burgstadt, Germany. She was proud of her German heritage and often shared memories of her life in Germany with family and friends. Anna loved to cook, barbecue, shop, and enjoy meals at restaurants. She had a big heart for animals and passed that love of them to her children.
Anna especially loved children, and for several years she ran a daycare out of her home, where she lovingly cared for many little ones. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper at Hills Supermarket in Corona, New York. Anna enjoyed staying connected and looked forward to talking with her friends and family on a daily basis.
Anna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Heyward, and her mother and father, Rosa and Johann Gartner.
Left to cherish Anna’s many memories are her daughters, Kathy, Alicia and her husband Troy; her grandchildren Ashley and her partner Jenn, Aliyah, Alijah, Alyssa, Alana and Alora; her sister Marta and children Jurgen and Gaby; her sisters-in-law Dorothy and Willie Mae; her brother-in-law Roosevelt and his wife Joyce and many other family members.
A graveside memorial service to honor Anna’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Family and friends are cordially invited to join in celebrating Anna’s life.
Anna’s many memories will continue to live in the hearts of everyone she loved and who loved her.
