Sallie Chavous

Sallie Morris Chavous, 77, of the Lake Blalock community, is now with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after passing from this world on Thursday, September 6, 2018. Born May 1, 1941, in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Lee Morris and Vivian Martin Morris. Mrs. Chavous was a graduate of T. L. Hanna Girls High School in Anderson, SC and attended Anderson Jr. College. Mrs. Chavous joined First Baptist Church of Spartanburg in 1968. For 50 years she was a devoted and active member of First Baptist serving in many areas of the church. Survivors include her loving husband of 57 years, C. Crawford Chavous, III, her children, Leah Chavous Mitchell (Barry) of Anderson, SC, Ryan Crawford Chavous (Vanessa) of Roebuck, SC, Rebecca Hope Chavous of Spartanburg SC; and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Faith Anne Chavous. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 9, 2018, at First Baptist Church Spartanburg, with The Rev. Dr. Donald J. Wilton officiating. Visitation will immediately follow in the church Social Hall. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Spartanburg, 250 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306; or to The American Cancer Society, 150 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615.
