Rudy Laverne Knight, 67, of Drayton, SC, died Saturday, March 10, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his family. Born May 10, 1950 in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late James Albert and Rachel Durham Knight. Rudy received his Associates degree from Spartanburg Methodist College. As a U.S. Army Sergeant, Mr. Knight served in the Vietnam War, later serving as a Drill Sergeant at Fort Jackson. Rudy was a former Spartanburg County Police Officer, a Shriner, he was also a professional Rodeo clown, and was a Master Mason with Mill Village Lodge #360 AFM. He was a member of Drayton Baptist Church and was a member of "The Shop" motorcycle club. Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer Guyton (Matt George) of Spartanburg; two granddaughters, Aubri Ann George and Azilee George of Spartanburg, SC; brother, Norman Knight (Bobbie) of Gaffney, SC; Kay Ivey, who is his cousin, best friend, and caregiver; a cousin, Mitch Stegall; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a brother, Douglas Knight. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Monday, March 12, 2018 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. A Celebration of his life will be 4:00 PM Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at the chapel, conducted by the Rev. David Frost. Burial with full military rites will be in Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, escorted by The Shop Motorcycle Club.
