Milton Lamar "Booty" Ivey, husband of the late Margaret Brockman Ivey, died on Friday, January 5, 2018. Born May 15, 1927, in Hendersonville, NC, he was the son of the late Milton Ivey and Eva Glover Ivey. As a lifetime resident of Spartanburg, he graduated from Spartanburg High School, class of 1944, and Presbyterian College in 1949, having been awarded a football scholarship. As a U.S. Navy veteran, he served in World War II, being assigned to the USS Princeton in the Pacific. Booty knew her from high school, and on November 11, 1950, happily married Margaret Brockman, who was his loving and devoted wife for 66 years. They loved to dance! She predeceased him in June, 2017. Beginning his career of banking in Spartanburg with Commercial Credit, he also worked as a loan officer with Piedmont Bank, South Carolina National Bank, Spartanburg Bank & Trust and Bankers Trust of S.C. He retired as President of Bankers Trust of Spartanburg in 1986. Although he attended Central Methodist Church as a child, he became a member of Bethel United Methodist Church when he married Margaret in 1950. He loved Bethel UMC and contributed his time and talents serving the church in various ways through the years. An avid runner before Nikes were developed, he hardly missed a day jogging, nor a morning at the YMCA. He cherished the friendships he made there over the years. As well, he loved the game of golf, his foursomes, & golf buddies. He spent his free time working in his beautiful yard. He is survived by his beloved children: Leslie Brown (Chip), Milton L Ivey, Jr (Cheryl), and Margie Mahaffey (George). He was blessed with seven grandchildren: David Brown (Elizabeth), Russell Brown (Jessica), Maggie Jennings (Michael), Martha Kate Williams (Drew), Milton L. Ivey III, Eva Grace Ivey, and Lacey Allen McCraw, who predeceased him in 2006. His eight great-grandchildren: Charlotte Brown, Annelise Brown, Isabelle Brown, Evelyn Brown, Margaret Brown, Brock Jennings, Eloise Jennings & Elmore Williams brought him great joy, as well as the anticipation of another grandson due to arrive in May 2018.
