Mary Garren

Mary Kimbrell Garren, 89, of Boiling Springs, SC, passed into Paradise on Friday, September 7, 2018 at her home. Born September 6, 1929 in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Eugene Kimbrell, Sr. and Myrtle Berry Kimbrell. She was the widow of James William Garren, Sr. Mary graduated from the Spartanburg General Hospital School of Nursing in 1949 and Alumni Association of Spartanburg General Hospital School of Nursing. She was a retired Private Duty Nurse and a member of Boiling Springs Baptist Church. Mary was very involved with The American Cancer Society, The Lions Club of Boiling Springs, The Family Community Leaders Association, and The Red Hat Society. She also volunteered at Boiling Springs Baptist Church and Mobile Meals. Survivors include her sons, James William Garren, Jr. (Judy) of Spartanburg, SC; Harold Stephen Garren (Jill) of Arcadia, SC; David Keith Garren (Cindy) of Spartanburg, SC and William Chanley Garren (Kelly) of Valley Falls, SC; daughter, Beverly Kaye Johnson (David) of Chesnee, SC; grandsons, Thomas Simons and Taylor Garren; granddaughter, Katherine Elizabeth Johnson; great grandchildren, Claire Robinson, Olivia Robinson, Mason Kemp, Foster Kemp; brothers, Eugene Kimbrell, Jr. (Edith) and Vernon Kimbrell; and sister, Tobatha Tillotson. She was also predeceased by a daughter, Deborah Garren Simmons, and siblings, Peggy Davis, JoAnn Seay, Henry Clarence Kimbrell, Johnny Kimbrell, and Terry Sue Kimbrell. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Monday, September 10, 2018 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the chapel, conducted by The Rev. Bobby Lindsey. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
