Martin Zschocher

Martin Arthur Zschocher, 78, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born August 26, 1939, in Mt. Vernon, OH, he was the son of the late Heinz and Elsie Zschocher and husband of the late Jill Kosmal Zschocher. Mr. Zschocher was a U. S. Army veteran during the Vietnam War as Spec. 4-E4, Co. E (Honor Guard), 1st Btl. (Reinf.), 3rd Inf. Div., Fort Myers, Va.; and took part in State Funerals of President Herbert Hoover, General Douglas MacArthur, and President John Kennedy. He had a very sharp, dry wit, enjoyed being a prankster, and was very generous to everyone. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, attended the University of Pittsburg and Spartanburg Community College, and retired as a printing supervisor after many years in the packaging industry. Surviving are his children, Karen Z. Valentine (Jeff) of Campobello, SC and Robert Zschocher (Judy) of Charlotte, NC; four granddaughters; one grandson; six sisters; and one brother. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by two sisters. Visitation will be 2:00-2:45 PM Monday, April 2, 2018, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Hwy 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC 29316 with funeral services follow at 3:00 PM, conducted by The Rev. Phillip Coggins. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens, 4081 Hwy 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
