Larkin Gaskins

Larkin Wynne Calhoun Gaskins, 70, of Pauline, SC, died Friday, April 6, 2018 at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born October 28, 1947 in Thomasville, GA, she was the daughter of the late Larkin Orville and Edna Wynne Calhoun. Mrs. Gaskins was a former Elementary School teacher having taught at Z.L. Madden Elementary school in Spartanburg, SC and Hollis Hand Elementary school in La Grange, GA. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where she volunteered in many church activities, including Adult Handicapped programs. With God as the center of her life, she was most interested and concerned for the welfare of others and gave generously of her time to those in need. She supported Mobile Meals, served on the Spartanburg Philharmonic Orchestra Board and was a member of PEO. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Dean C. Gaskins; sons, John Dean Gaskins (Sally Traywick) of Spartanburg, SC and Mitchell Dean Gaskins of Pauline, SC; daughter, Larkin Wynne Lewis of Dothan, AL; five grandchildren, Jack Gaskins, Will Gaskins, Caroline Gaskins, Callista Lewis, and Sarah Lewis; and Skye, her special Border collie. She was also predeceased by her brother, William "Bill" Groves Calhoun. A Memorial service will be 2:00 PM Monday, April 9, 2018 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 309 Fernwood Dr, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Paul Peterson. Visitation will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall and those who wish are invited to visit at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mobile Meals, 419 E.
