Johnny Kirkland

Johnny Lee Kirkland, 72, of Moore, SC died Saturday, September 16, 2017. Born January 20, 1945 in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Osea John and Clara Jane Bridges Kirkland. Johnny was retired from Duke Energy as a lineman. He was an active member of the Wildlife Action Conservatory; helping children enjoy and appreciate wildlife and all things outdoors. An avid hunter; his interest also included playing chess, gardening, and winemaking. Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Dorothy Marie Massey Kirkland; sons, Johnny Lee Kirkland, Jr. of Spartanburg, SC and Jeff Barker (Kristen T.) of Moore, SC; daughters, Angela B. Lynch of Moore, SC and Rebecca B. Thompson (Derek) of Woodruff, SC; grandchildren, Johnathan Blake Kirkland, Matthew Lee Kirkland, Caitlin Brooke Kirkland, Jordan M. Lynch, Logan Q. Lynch, Ryann N. Lynch, A. Lael Barker, A. JoEl Barker, Trevor L. Musgrove; great grandson, Peyton J. Lynch; sisters, Bernice K. Griffin and Dorothy M. McAbee. Along with his parents, he was also predeceased by his brother, James Vernon Kirkland. Graveside service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Westwood Memorial Gardens, 6101 Reidville Road, Moore, SC 29369, conducted by the Rev. Earl Tanner.
