Ernie Dewitt Ramsey, 72, of Cowpens, SC, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital-Spartanburg. Born July 15, 1945, in Spartanburg County, SC, he was the son of the late David Herman Ramsey Sr. and Annie Littlefield Ramsey. A graduate of Chapman High School and U. S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, Mr. Ramsey retired from Century Trucking Company and worked part-time with Auto Fleet. He was a member of Hope Church where he was an usher for many years and attended Love Springs Baptist Church. He devoted his time and energy to church missions, had a passion for southern gospel music and traveled to assist the artists. Survivors include his wife, Annette Wall Ramsey; children, Scott Ramsey of Spartanburg, SC, Mike Ramsey of Boiling Springs, SC, Greg Ramsey of Summerville, SC, Jake Law of Cowpens, SC, and Stephanie Mason of Boiling Springs, SC; 16 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and sister, Judy McClanahan of Gastonia, NC. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two Heavenly Angel grandchildren; and a brother, David Herman Ramsey Jr. Visitation will be 12:00-1:45 PM Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Hope Church with funeral services following at 2:00 PM, conducted by The Rev. Dr. Tony Cribb, The Rev. Dr. Ron Culbertson, The Rev. Don Horton, and The Rev. Philip McCoy. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hope Church Missions, 102 John Dodd Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at the home.
