Denice Cooksey

Denice Marie Cooksey, 67, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, July 5, 2018, at her home. Born February 13, 1951 in Augusta, GA, she was the daughter of the late Donald Wayne and Vesta Lorraine Sell Cooksey. Ms. Cooksey was a retired office manager with the DEA in Greensboro, NC. After her retirement from the DEA, Ms. Cooksey worked in the nursery and after-school program at Trinity United Methodist Church in Spartanburg, SC. She was of the Methodist faith and loved gardening and cooking. Survivors include her sons, William Rothschild (Carey) of Spartanburg, SC and Joseph D. Hughes III of Haverhill, MA; daughters, Cameron Lee Hughes of Spartanburg, SC and Mairen Beth Hughes of Portland, OR; three grandchildren, Catherine Alexandra Rothschild, Sarah Hunter Rothschild and Andrew Hunter Hughes; siblings, Valorie Jean Cooksey and Alan Wayne Cooksey, both of El Paso, TX and Jenifer Lee Cooksey of Gloucester, MA; and her two feline friends, Loie and Birdie. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Debra Lynn Cooksey. A celebration of life will be 1:00 PM Friday, July 27, 2018, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev. Dr. Paul W. Harmon Jr. Visitation will follow at the Chapel.
