Clark Bush

Clark T. Bush, 93, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Clark was the husband of the late Eleanor Sanderson Bush. Born June 9, 1924, in Barnesville, GA, he was the son of the late Clark Talmadge Bush Sr. and Eva Lillian Thurmond Bush. Clark graduated from Rock Hill High School in 1941 and attended Gordon ROTC Junior College and Clemson College before joining the Army in 1943. He joined the paratroopers and was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division, 506 Regiment. Clark's awards included the European Theatre Ribbon with Battle Star, Combat Badge, Bronze Star, The Belgian Fourragere, The French Certificate of Appreciation, Victory Medal, The Occupation of Germany and others. After receiving his honorable discharge in January 1946, Clark returned to Clemson University. In 1948, he began his career at Celanese and married Eleanor Sanderson. After 42 years with Celanese and then Hoechst Celanese, he retired to play golf and was active in many organizations in Rock Hill and Spartanburg. His love of music caused him to be active in church choirs, the Barber Shoppers, Elks Chorus, and the Drum and Bugle Corps. Surviving are his two sons, Clark S. Bush (Sandra) of Rock Hill, SC and Mark D. Bush (Kathy) of Spartanburg, SC; four granddaughters, Kimberly Hill, Jennifer Comer (Jeff), Melissa Coy (Kevin), and Caroline Bush; and great-grandchildren, Madalyn Coy and T. J. Hill. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, August 31, 2017, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, September 1, 2017 in Laurelwood Cemetery, White St., Rock Hill, SC 29731, by the Rev. John Warren. Memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Building Fund, 1320 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
