Charlotte Hamrick

Charlotte Hamrick, 78, passed away at home on January 22, 2021 of natural causes. She was co-founder of the former Kale Research Center in Spartanburg, SC. She was the daughter of Elizabeth Brough Register and Ray Register, Sr. She graduated from West Mecklenburg High School, Charlotte, NC and attended Converse College. She was a member of the Sigma Phi Chi sorority of Palmer College of Chiropractic. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Spartanburg. She was previously married to Dr. Michael U. Kale, Chiropractic Statesman and founder of the Kale Research Center. She traveled extensively around the U.S. and the world spreading the work of Chiropractic. She was a Fellow of the Kale Chiropractic Society. Charlotte twice received the highest honor of the Ladies Auxiliary of the South Carolina Chiropractic Association, The Chiropractic Woman of the Year. She served in every office in the Auxiliary of South Carolina. She was a member of the International Chiropractors Association of which Dr. Kale was a fellow. Charlotte was a leader in her community and was actively involved with the seniors in her church. She was an advocate for Miracle Hill in Spartanburg and helped many homeless citizens. She was formerly a Sunday School teacher, Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader, and Chiropractic Assistant. For several years, she served as the Executive Director of Seniors of the North Spartan Baptist Association. She was a member of the Red Hat society and the Landrum Garden Club. Her interests included decorating, cooking, painting, and floral arranging. She is survived by her devoted husband of 16 years, Joe Hamrick. Their marriage and his love for Charlotte mirrored Christ's love for the church. He demonstrated gentleness, faithfulness and patience toward her in the most difficult moments. She was survived by one son, Dr. Randolph Kale (Melissa) and a daughter, Dr. Renee Kale de Peña (Dr. Gonzalo Peña). She was reunited with her youngest son, Dr. B.J. Kale (Lindsay) on January 24, 2021. She was also survived by a stepson, Mickey Hamrick (Lorie), a stepdaughter Rita Bruce (Barry); twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, the Rev. Dr. Ray G. Register, Jr (Rosemary) and many beloved nieces and nephews. One brother, Benjamin Hampton Register (Jackie) and one sister, Elizabeth (Betsy) Davis (Dero), predecease her. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307 officiated by Reverend Preston Burris, Reverend Dr. Reggie Parker and Reverend Ty Childers. Entombment to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Complex, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the North Spartan Baptist Association, 8909 Valley Falls Road, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
