Blanding "BB" Brown, 93, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away peacefully Friday, October 19, 2018 at White Oak Estates, surrounded by his two daughters singing his favorite hymns. Born August 8, 1925 in Sumter, SC, he was the son of the late Isadore and Ellen Hamilton Brown and the widower of Irma Jean Pearson Brown. A U. S. Army veteran of the World War II, Mr. Brown retired from the City of Spartanburg after 24 years of service, was a long-time school crossing guard, and served on the chain crew for Wofford College and Spartanburg High School Football games, and was a cancer survivor. Blanding was a member of Whitney Masonic Lodge 264, The Hejaz Shrine Temple, and was a member of Whitney Fire Department since 1971. Blanding attended First Wesleyan Church, a devoted Christian, whose presence needed no introduction. Survivors include his two daughters, Anna Bouknight and Jean Jones; five grandchildren, Nicole Stroud (Terry), Nick Bouknight (Patricia), Katie Burke (Chaun), Taylor Bouknight, Avery Jones; and eight great grandchildren. He was also predeceased by a son, Mark Blanding Brown, a brother, Andrew Brown, and a sister, Lillie Mae Lee. A visitation will be at 1:00 - 2:45 PM Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, 235 North Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306. A funeral service will be at 3:00 PM at the chapel, conducted by The Rev. Gary Long. Burial will follow the service in Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannon Campground Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
