Bernice Staton

Bernice Arlene Fowler Staton, 93, of Greenville, SC and formerly of Cowpens, SC, died Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at Southpointe Health & Rehab. Born June 10, 1926, in Pacolet, SC, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Henry Fowler and Bertha Worley Fowler and widow of Otis Clinton Staton. Mrs. Staton enjoyed reading and needlepoint as well as traveling by bus. She was a member of Central Baptist Church, Cowpens, SC. Survivors include her children, David and Susan Staton of Banner Elk, NC, Dennis and Lorraine Staton of Inman, SC, Martha Sue Motes of Easley, SC, and Christopher and Sharon Staton of Columbia, SC; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-grant-grandchild; 33 nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Bobbie Fowler of Spartanburg, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by sisters and brothers, Lucille Million, Pauline Teaster, Merle Winstead, J. W. Fowler, and Horace E. Fowler. Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 AM Saturday, September 14, 2019, at Central Baptist Church-Cowpens, with funeral services following at 11:00 AM, conducted by The Rev. Dr. Jason Metcalf. Burial will be in Daniel Morgan Memorial Gardens, 175 Cemetery St., Cowpens, SC 29330. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church, 126 East Church Street, Cowpens, SC 29330.
