Avril Alexander

September 21, 1925 — June 30, 2018

Avril True Alexander, 92, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, June 30, 2018. Born in South Wales, Great Britain, she was the daughter of the late Annie Nash True and Walter Morgan True. Mrs. Alexander is best remembered for her love and extensive knowledge of antiques and fine things and entertaining, for her love of all creatures great and small, and for her beautiful English garden at her home on Palmetto Street in Spartanburg, SC. She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Alexander (Dr. Thomas Irwin, Jr.) Dashiell of Tryon, NC, and by her grandson, Dr. Marshall Alexander (Brooke Ingram) Chapman of Greenville, SC. She was predeceased by a son, Kevin Malcolm Alexander, and by her brother, Malcom True. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 7, 2018 in the Chapel at First Presbyterian Church, 393 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29302, by The Rev. Joanne Hull. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A private burial service will be held at a later date. In remembrance of Mrs. Alexander, memorials may be made to the Kevin Malcolm Alexander Fund at the Spartanburg County Foundation, 424 East Kennedy Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302, or to the Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
