Ruth Morris

Ruth Hopkins Morris, 93, of Greenville, SC, formerly of Spartanburg, SC died Wednesday, June 16, 2021. Born June 22, 1927 in Oakway, SC she was the daughter of the late James Martin Hopkins and Mattie Lay Hopkins and the widow of the late Rutledge S. Morris to whom she was married for 60 years.

A graduate of the Tamassee-Salem DAR High School and Robinson’s Business College, Mrs. Morris was a long-time member of Arcadia First Baptist Church where she was very active. At the time of her death, she was a member of Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons, Dr. D. Lynn Morris (Christie) of Greenville, NC, David Morris of Greenville, SC; daughter, Mary M. Loftis (Mike) of Moore, SC; grandchildren, Melissa M. Schweitzer (Nathan) of Alexandria, VA, Megan M. DuBois (Sheldon) of Emmaus, PA, and Ben Loftis of Spartanburg, SC; great-grandson, Noah Schweitzer of Alexandria, VA, and sisters, Myra H. Stroud of Oak Ridge, TN and Geraldine H. Hughes of Cowpens, SC. She was predeceased by brothers, Howard, Edward, Sloan and Dock Hopkins and sisters, Ella Mae Todd, Lillian Alexander, Mamie Edwards, and Betty Alexander.

The family will have a private graveside service.
