Administrative/Clerical Staff
OUR CLERICAL STAFF:
These full time employees provide the behind the
scene support for the funeral service operation; they file the
forms and authorizations, publish obituary notices and death
certificates, process contracts, insurance policies and other
documents that are required on a daily basis. They are
knowledgeable of government benefits and probate procedures.

David Holder - Retired:
2010
David and his wife Toni worked for
the Floyd family since the '70s when David was first hired by
Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. He later went on to handle the
Greenlawn Chapel facility for many years where he served until his
retirement. He was a friendly and familiar face that will be
missed.

Jane Rowland - In
Memorial
Ms. Rowland died unexpectedly on May 23,
2010. Jane was a native of Greenville, SC, but had lived
in Spartanburg all her life. She is a graduate of Anderson College
and a 30 year member of the First Baptist Church of Spartanburg
where she was a member of the Sanctuary Choir and served on
various committees within the church. She was also a Soup
Kitchen volunteer. She had been employed at Floyd's Mortuary since
December 2001, and was responsible for obituary notices,
cremation authorizations, and the preparation and submission of
Death Certificates. Some of her special interests were
genealogy, gardening, needlework, and collecting salt and pepper
shakers. She will be missed by all.

Bertha Flynn -
In Memorial
Bertha died after a short illness on June 4,
2011. She was a longtime employee of The J. F. Floyd
Mortuary having come to Floyd's in 1985. She was born in
Spartanburg and now resides in the Boiling Springs area with her
husband Alva James "A.J." Flynn. Bertha had one son and three
grandchildren also living in the area. She was a member of
Gravely Memorial United Methodist Church, Credit Professionals of
Spartanburg, as well as administrative Professionals of
Spartanburg. She enjoyed reading and swimming and caring for her
pet dog Scooter.

Susan Anderson
Social Director
Nickname "Sunshine" or "Trouble" (because she won't
write her biography!)

Vivian O'Dell
Aftercare Specialist
Mrs. O'Dell was born in the York County South
Carolina town of Clover, and moved to Spartanburg in 1952. She
attended Furman University and Converse College. She is a graduate
of the National Foundation of Funeral Service School of Management
for Ladies in Funeral Service. Vivian began her work at Floyd's in
1963. She and her husband William M. "Bill" O'Dell have one
daughter, and are members of Bethel United Methodist Church. Vivian
is a active member of the Spartanburg County Republican Women's
Club. She received the 2006 Ellen Lanier Republican Woman of the
Year Award. She is also a member of he Credit Professionals
International. Mrs. O'Dell assists families with business matters,
such as processing insurance claims, Veterans Claims for Burial
Benefits, Social Security Benefits, assistance with Probate Court
procedures, and other matters as they present themselves.

Robin Price
Aftercare Specialist
Robin was born in Johnstown, PA and was raised
in Buies Creek, NC. She moved to the Spartanburg area in 1985. She
has been with Floyd's since 2001. She and her husband Vernon L.
"Roy" Price and her son Ryan live just inside the Cherokee County
Line. She is a member of Spartanburg First Baptist Church,
where she can often be found playing the harp during worship
services. She along with her husband Roy on violin and Ryan on oboe
often provide entertainment for a variety of events. Robin's duties
at Floyd's consists of ordering certified copies of death
certificates and notifying families upon their arrival, assists
with filing life insurance and Social Security claims, as well as
advising families in regards to probate court. She and her family
share their home with 2 cats, 4 birds, and 3 fish.

Pat Brown
Administrative Assistant
Pat was born in Clifton, SC and is a graduate of
Cowpens High School. She later attended Spartanburg Technical
College. Pat is the widow of Donald M. Brown and has three children
and four grandchildren. She is a member of Westside Baptist Church
in Cowpens where she is an active member of the church choir. Pat's
job plays a vital role in assisting our funeral directors with such
things as preparing Memorial Folders, securing military rites for
our deceased veterans, as well as notifying ministers, musicians,
hairdressers, etc. Pat enjoys traveling and collecting post cards
as well as Dickens Houses at Christmas time. Pat also assists in
our accounting department and is one of our Video Tribute
"producers".

Becky Mayes
Payroll Department
Becky was born in Petersburg, Va., and was a
graduate of Hopewell High School Hopewell, Va. in 1970. She moved
to Spartanburg in 1983 and after graduating from Spartanburg
Technical College joined the Staff at The J.F. Floyd Mortuary in
1986. Becky enjoys line dancing and landscaping.
