Virginia Blackwell Gosnell, 97, of Inman, SC, died Monday, August 28, 2017, at RoseCrest Retirement Community. Born March 3, 1920, in Campobello, SC, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Grace Burns Blackwell and widow of James William Gosnell. A graduate of Campobello High School, Mrs. Gosnell also attended Cecil's Business College, and retired from the Selective Services Board after 30 years of service. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was a teacher in the Children's Department for over 50 years. Survivors include her son, Neil Melvin Gosnell (Debbie) of Spartanburg, SC; grandsons, Jason Gosnell (Kelli) and Glenn Gosnell (Amanda), all of Spartanburg, SC, and Patrick Gosnell (Heather Gail), of Greer, SC; three great-grandsons, Ethan, Graeme, and Anthony; and daughter-in-law, Lynn Sawyer Gosnell of Boiling Springs, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Brick Gosnell. Visitation will be 7:00-8:30 PM Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. A cryptside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 30, 2017, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Complex, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Scott Linnerud. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 4000 Parris Bridge Road, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. The family is at their respective homes.
