Violet Diemer

Violet Elena Diemer, age 55 of Inman, passed away following a protracted battle with cancer on Tuesday, February 9, 2016. She was born in Sarasota, Florida, to the late Rev. Donald J. Walling and Alba Pelaez Walling on March 2, 1960. Violet was an honors student and National Merit Scholar at King High School in Temple Terrace, Florida, before attending Cottey College (AA), the University of Florida (BS Psychology, Phi Beta Kappa, and post graduate work towards an MS in Social Psychology), the University of South Florida (MS - Math and Secondary Education, Phi Theta Kappa), and Saint Leo University (BS - Computer Science). Working variously as a youth pastor, librarian, high school math teacher, stay at home mom, and most recently information systems professional with Milliken & Company. She was an active member and former president of the AP Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Girl Scout leader, Webelos Den Mother, Boiling Springs Band Boosters, and member of the First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg choir. Violet's deeply committed Christian faith was the basis for how she lived, with her number one concern and love in life being her family. Additionally she loved travel, reading, music, and experiencing new things. Life was an adventure in continuous learning. Violet is survived by her husband, Michael J. Diemer (Mike), children, Alexander (Alex) age 22, Nicholas (Nick) age 20, and Catherine age 19, her brother, Gerald Walling (Jerry) and was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Carl David Walling. She also leaves behind innumerable loving relatives and friends. The family will receive friends and visitors 3:30-4:45 PM Saturday, February 13, 2015, with a memorial service conducted by the Rev. Jonelle Capitano, following at 5:00 PM, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, 235 N. Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306.
