Shirley Sharpe

Shirley Dewalt Sharpe, 79, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at her home. Born February 12, 1936, in Salisbury, NC, and raised in Charlotte, NC, she was the daughter of the late Hiram A. Dewalt and Ethel Penick Dewalt. A graduate of Harding High School, Mrs. Sharpe attended King's Business College, retired as an accountant with Tietex after 26 years of service, and was employed as a receptionist with Weight Watchers. She moved to Spartanburg with her husband in 1967, was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, and the Fidelis Sunday School Class. Survivors include her loving husband, John A. Sharpe; children, John A. Sharpe, Jr. and his wife Sylvia of Hope Mills, NC, David Sharpe and Linda Smith, both of Spartanburg, SC; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth W. Dewalt; and sister, Martha Millen. Visitation will be 1:00-2:15 PM Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 350 N. Blackstock Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29301. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 PM conducted by the Rev. Rufus Chaneyworth and the Rev. Rupert Guest. Burial will be in Good Shepherd Memorial Park, 4164 Boiling Springs Rd., Boiling Springs, SC 29316. The family will receive friends at the home.
