Nanette Hamilton

Nanette S. Hamilton, 96, of Spartanburg, SC, entered the church triumphant on Tuesday, March 24, 2015. Born, December 26, 1918, in Calhoun Falls, SC, she was the daughter of the late Minnie and Jim Sherard. She was married for 61 years to the love of her life, the late William Hugh Hamilton, Jr. Nanette attended the Abbeville Public Schools and graduated from Queens College. A lifelong Presbyterian, she was active in the Women of the Church. She was known for her Bible teaching, flower arranging, and also for her love of family and friends. Surviving are three perfect children and their spouses, Sheree Hamilton Ansley of Spartanburg, SC, Paige Parsons Lewis and her husband, Ron of Manning, SC, and William Hugh Hamilton III and his wife, Sandy of Pensacola, FL; a brother, James Hardin Sherard and his wife, Veda of Highlands, NC; seven grandchildren, Beth Ansley Bailey (Colin) of Columbia, SC, Lauren Ansley of Charlotte, NC, Amanda Parsons Cook of Winston-Salem, NC, Ryan Parsons of Columbia, SC, Blake Parsons of Honolulu HI, Lindsay Hamilton of Nashville, TN, and Jenny Hamilton of Pensacola, FL; and two great-grandchildren, Henry Thatcher Cook and Brooke Mckenna Bailey. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, March 30, 2015, at First Presbyterian Church Chapel, 393 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29302, conducted by The Rev. Dr. Thomas Evans and The Rev. Joanne Hull. Visitation will follow the service in the church Parlor. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mobile Meals Service, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304; or The Montreat Fund, PO Box 969, Montreat, NC 29757, "the gate to heaven" according to Nanette where lifelong memories were made and shared. A special thank you is expressed to the staffs at Summit Hills and Mountainview Nursing Homes for their care and comfort.
