Nancy Puckette

Nancy Smedley Puckette, 93, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at her home. Born November 26, 1922, in Stanley, Tasmania, Australia, she was the daughter of the late James Elliot Smedley and Emily Horton Smedley and widow of Ralph E. Puckette. Mrs. Puckette worked on a fishing trawler in Australia during World War II. She loved Elvis, enjoyed dancing, and was of the Methodist faith. Survivors include her son, Barry Puckette of Roebuck, SC; grandson, Phoenix Puckette (Amber) of Akron, OH; nieces, Margaret Sakalis of Dromana, Victoria, Australia and Jenny Pearce of Leith, Tasmania, Australia; and many friends and staff at Heritage Court Apartments. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Enid and Jessie; brothers, Rex and Colin Smedley; daughter-in-law, Ruth Ann Puckette; and companions, Burt Davis and Nathaniel "Nat" Amos. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Saturday, February 13, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Richard Burton and the Rev. Norman L. Band. Visitation will follow the services at the Chapel. Private burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
