Lee Ricketson

In loving memory of Lee Calkins Ricketson, age 91, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at RoseCrest Assisted Living. Lee was born May 13, 1926, in Battle Creek, Michigan, to the late Dean G. and Erma (Calkins) Ricketson. He was a 1944 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and a veteran of the United States Navy serving 1944-1946. On June 7, 1947, he married Roselyn Clark, the love of his life, and together they celebrated 50 years of marriage before her passing in September 1997. Lee was employed for most of his career as a salesman and sales manager for the Ford Dealerships in Battle Creek. He also served over 20 years as a fireman for the former Battle Creek Township. He enjoyed annual fishing trips to Canada and salmon fishing in Lake Michigan. His favorite place was in his boat fishing on Long Lake and "porch sitting" at the family cottage there. In addition to his parents and wife, Lee was preceded in death by his son, Steven L. Ricketson (2011); brother, Dean Ricketson; and sister, V. Margaret Joublanc. Surviving are his daughter, Kathleen Venn and her husband Alan; daughter-in-law, Sally Ricketson; granddaughter, Tara Venn; grandson, Tad Venn, MD (Sarah); and four great-granddaughters. Private services will be held at a later date.
