Katherine Scruggs

Katherine Smelcer Scruggs, 95, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, September 7, 2017, at Summit Hills Assisted Living. Born October 28, 1921, in Greeneville, TN, she was the daughter of the late Alden C. and Elsie B. Smelcer and widow of Thomas Daniel Scruggs Sr. A graduate of East Tennessee State University, Mrs. Scruggs enjoyed gardening and collecting antiques. She was affiliated with Trinity United Methodist Church and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Spartanburg. Survivors include her son, Tom Scruggs (Sarah) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be announced at a later date. Stetzer Funeral Home, Morristown, TN will be handling the arrangements. The J. F.
