John Somers

John Arthur Somers, 73, of Boiling Springs, SC, died Sunday, June 10, 2018, at his home. Born November 8, 1944, in San Francisco, CA, a son of the late Gordon and Lila Green Somers, he was the husband of the late Miriam Barnea Rhinehart Somers. A U. S. Marine veteran and retired truck driver, Mr. Somers loved NASCAR and fishing. He was employed with Builders Transport, Penske Trucking, Pet Dairies, and was of the Catholic faith. Surviving are his son, Jeff Somers (Michelle) of Chesnee, SC; grandson, Chris Tubbs of Chesnee, SC; special buddy, Bobbyjo Gill; brothers, Jim Somers of Stockton, CA and David Somers of Pacifica, CA; special niece, Wilma Vaughn; step-daughter, Teresa King; and step-grandchildren, Rachelle Books, Scott King, and Jeremy King. Visitation will be 1:30-2:30 PM Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Hwy 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC 29316, with funeral services following at 3:00 PM, conducted by The Rev. Brian Harris. Burial, with military rites, will be in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens, 4081 Hwy 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
