Elizabeth Jeane Fields Kurzendoerfer, 89, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, October 15, 2017, at her home. Born October 11, 1928, in Evansville, IN, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Henry and Theresa Isabelle Carrico Fields and widow of Charles Robert Kurzendoerfer. Mrs. Kurzendoerfer was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who often compared her family to olive branches around her table (Psalm 128:3). She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and retired from K-Mart after 19 years of service. Survivors include her daughters, Jeane K. Artus (Emile) of Fountain Inn, SC, Donna K. Crossley and Carla K. Avila (Gregory), all of Spartanburg, SC; sons, Charles A. Kurzendoerfer (Becky) of Goose Creek, SC, Stuart R. Kurzendoerfer (Karen) of Carlisle, PA, and Bart R. Kurzendoerfer of Fayetteville, NC; and numerous beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by sisters and brothers, Esther Paul, Edna Lane, Alberta Milligan, Christopher Fields, John Fields, Robert Fields, and Richard Fields; son-in-law, Maurice Crossley; and daughter-in-law, Iris Kurzendoerfer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:30 AM Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Historic St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 161 N. Dean St., Spartanburg, SC 29302, by the Rev. David Whitman. Burial, at a later date, will be in Fort Bragg Main Post Cemetery, Butner Rd., Spring Lake, NC 28390.
