Georgie Lamm

Georgie Guy Carter Lamm, 95, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at White Oak Manor-Spartanburg. Born December 17, 1922, in Detroit, MI, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Elizabeth Carson Guy and the widow of her first husband, George Hoyle Carter Sr. and second husband, Andrew E. Lamm. Mrs. Lamm was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church and Eastern Star. She was retired from Collins & Aikman and in her spare time she loved to cook, knit and crochet. Survivors include her sons, George Carter Jr. (Laura) of Spartanburg, SC, Joseph Carter (Marlene) of Duncan, SC, and Lt. Col. James Carter (Patricia) of Columbia, SC; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by her sons, Robert Carter (Peggy) of Manning, SC and Dr. William Carter (Patricia) of Huntington, WV; two brothers; and one sister. The family will host a memorial service at 3:00 PM Sunday, February 18, 2018, at Zion Hill Baptist Church, to be conducted by The Rev. Keith Davis. Private burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Hill Baptist Church, 2817 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. The family is at their respective homes.
