Dety Waldrop

Sarah Juanita Crocker "Dety" Waldrop, 86, of Spartanburg, SC, died Friday, January 26, 2018, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born June 3, 1931, in Clifton, SC, she was the daughter of the late Clyde C. and Elsie Thornton Crocker and widow of Bartley Waldrop. Mrs. Waldrop devoted her life to caring for her family. She was a lifelong member of East Spartanburg Wesleyan Church and retired from Belk Department Store. Survivors include her son, Steve Waldrop of Spartanburg, SC; daughter/niece, Hope Mizzell (Tony) of Columbia, SC; daughter-in-law, Sandi Waldrop of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Sybil and T. J. Mizzell of Columbia, SC; and nephew, Linn Crocker (Avon) of Missouri. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Rev. Timothy L. Waldrop; daughters, Vickie Waldrop and Kim Waldrop; and siblings, Rev. Robert N. Crocker and Sybil Crocker Poteat. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 31, 2018, in Thompson Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, 990 Thompson Chapel Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by The Rev. Brian Harris.
