David Hurd

David Allen Hurd, 73, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born December 13, 1944, in Greensboro, NC, he was the son of the late Ira Swain Hurd and Louise Lawrence Hurd and husband of 52 years to the late Brenda Nanney Hurd. A native of Spartanburg, SC, Mr. Hurd was a real estate developer, wonderful father, and avid golfer. Mr. Hurd was active in his retirement and played golf regularly at The Creek golf course. He was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1965 from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. Mr. Hurd was a proud and active member of the USC Letterman's Club. Surviving are two sons and a daughter, Paul S. Hurd and wife Mandy of Orlando, FL, Mark A. Hurd and wife Shaye of Charleston, SC, and Dawn Mannine and husband Joe of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren, Mark Allen Hurd II and Brady Hurd of Charleston, SC, Ari Mannine, Ivey Adams, and Alden Adams of Atlanta, GA; sister, Dr. Gail Gallemore of Johnson City, TN; and brother, Fred Hurd, missionary serving in Southeast Asia. He was predeceased by his beloved canine companions, Taffy and Miller. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, February 25, 2018, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. The family will receive friends at the Chapel following the service.
