David Frick

David Reinhold Frick, 70, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, January 8, 2018, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born March 14, 1947, in Jersey City, NJ, he lived most of his life in Spartanburg and was the son of the late Reinhold Walter and Jean Riddle Frick. A veteran of the U. S. Navy, Mr. Frick received his Associates Degree in Draftsmanship from Spartanburg Community College and was a retired draftsman. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in his High School years, was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, and was formerly employed as a funeral assistant with The J. F. Floyd Mortuary. Survivors include his wife, Martha Byrd Frick; daughters, Jennifer Frick Esser (David) of Greenville, SC and Julie Frick Wojcik (Paul) of Hendersonville, NC; grandchildren, David Berg, John-Wesley Berg, and Brooklynn Porter; brother, Dr. Kenneth Edwin Frick (Jeannie) of Spartanburg, SC; step-daughter, Rachel Lisabeth Bird of Spartanburg, SC and Claire Bird Burkum (Ryan) of Norwood, NY; step-grandchildren, Thomas Burkum, Cathryn Burkum, and Garrett Esser; nieces and nephew, Jean Cecil Frick, Jamie Frick Stacey (Alex), and John Edwin Frick (Sarah). Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM Sunday, January 14, 2018, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday, January 15, 2018, at St. John's Lutheran Church, by The Rev. Michael Shackelford. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountainview Nursing Home, 340 Cedar Springs Road, Spartanburg, SC 29302; or St. John's Lutheran Church, 415 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
