Charlotte Gale Crocker Going, 71, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, February 26, 2018, at White Oak Estates. Born May 26, 1946, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late James William and Zara Minnie Loftis Crocker and widow of William Thomas Going, Jr. A member of Pacolet First Baptist Church, Mrs. Going enjoyed traveling to the beach and the mountains, playing tennis, and could do a pretty good Donald Duck impression. She enjoyed nature and would often slip away to write poetry under a tree in Duncan Park. With over 30 years, she retired from Spartanburg School District 7 as a Physical Education and Health teacher and coach. For several years, she was also employed as a realtor with Atkins Real Estate and taught speech and communications at USC. Whether as Mom, a wife, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, or educator, Mrs. Going always challenged you to achieve your best. She could be tough but was always caring. She never shied away from advocating against injustices and was always loyal to her family, friends, and work, even when that was not always reciprocated. She had great passion for helping those in need, even if they were strangers. In all that she did, she wanted to make a difference. Survivors include her son, Todd Going of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Kristina and Gabrielle Going of Atlanta, GA; sister, Anne Crocker Gossett of Richmond Hill, GA; brother, Dennis Crocker of McConnells, SC; and several nieces and nephews. The Going Family would like to thank the staff of Eden Terrace and White Oak Estates for the outstanding care they provided. In addition, they would also like to thank caregiver, Ms. Lizzie Littlefield of Home Instead and Cindy Hodge, RN of Spartanburg Regional Hospice for their unwavering care and dedication. Private services will be conducted at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
