Alice Ridings

Alice Ann Purgason Ridings, 78, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, November 27, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital, Columbus, NC. Born December 18, 1938, in Burke County, NC, she was the daughter, along with five brothers, of the late Clyde W. and Ollie B. King Purgason. She was married for 55 years to Sherman Raymond Ridings of the home. Mrs. Ridings was a member of Clifton Second Baptist Church where she was a former MWU Director, taught Sunday School, was a choir member for over 30 years, and volunteered with Samaritan's Purse. She retired from Winn Dixie Grocery after 30 years of service. Visitation will be 11:00 AM - 12:00 noon Friday, December 1, 2017, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 PM in Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by The Rev. David Chastain.
