Albert Linder

Albert Lee Linder, 83, of Moore, SC, died Friday, January 19, 2018, at his home. Born December 20, 1934, in Spartanburg County, SC, he was the son of the late Albert Devine Linder and Lola Whitt Linder and stepson of the late Eunice Childers Linder. A veteran U. S. Army Ranger, Mr. Linder served over 12 years with the U. S. Marine Corps and retired from the U. S. Army after 20 years of service in the military. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars VFW Post. Surviving are his sons, Alan and wife Belinda, Arnold and wife Becky, all of Spartanburg, and Aaron "Ace" and wife Tammy of Woodruff; eight grandchildren, Rosie, Angela, Ashley, Amber, Kayla, Ariel, Adam, and Abigail; three great-grandchildren, Mac, Hannah, and Brantley; and siblings, Alma Pate, Olive Price, Alpha Hughes, Jack Linder, Gail Fowler, and Jean Brown. The family would also like to acknowledge his longtime companion, Betty Cartee, and her daughter, Kim Cartee Fletcher, who loved him like a father, along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by siblings, Edith Rochester, Thelma Linder, Hazel Mae Linder, Judson Linder, Fred Linder, and Ronald Linder. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, January 22, 2018, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 Noon Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by Pastor Monte Guffey and The Rev. Larry Wilks. Burial, with military rites by American Legion Post #28, will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Pallbearers will be Adam Linder, Jonathan Linder, Tyler Hodge, James Taylor, III, Austin Taylor, and Jonathan Underwood.
