Cremation Options
Why are more and more people choosing cremation?
There are many factors, including the following:
-personal or spiritual beliefs
-environmental philosophy
-economic needs
Cremation is simply a final means of preparation that prepares the deceased for final disposition - burial, entombment, scattering or some combination thereof. It can be performed at any time during the funeral process. When choosing cremation as a part of your arrangements, important considerations should be given to a few specific issues.
How are services with cremation different from regular funeral services? They're not. Services with cremation can be held in any one of our chapels, your church or any place of your choosing.....and can end with earth burial or mausoleum entombment, unless you prefer something different. It can be as religious, celebratory or both, as you wish. It's your choice to make.
Whatever type of preparation, service and disposition you choose - family and friends need time to grieve, be supported and to say good-bye to their loved one. Historically, this has been the reason for the visitation and the funeral - to provide an opportunity to support the family and friends at the beginning of their loss.... which hopefully will facilitate the resolution and acceptance of that loss ...which will come over time.
The same services options are available with cremation preparation as there are for burial or entombment, including music, prayers, and recitations or personal eulogies of your choice. You can have viewing and visitation arrangements, with an open or closed casket (or no casket at all) for as long or as short a period as you wish.
Here are a few other services and options for you to consider:
A Contemporary Service with Casket present (can be rented); cremation to follow the service: at your church or one of our chapels
A Memorial or Prayer Service:
A service of remembrance (like a funeral) with or without the casket or urn present
-in your home
-at the funeral home
-at your church
A Reception/Celebration for Family and Friends:
At a location that is special to the family or to the deceased, whenever you choose, with whomever you choose.
-in your home
-at the funeral home
-at your church
Our funeral directors can assist you with these and other arrangement decisions that need to be made. Its what we do.
Cremation Packages
Cremation Pricing: Every funeral home has a non-declinable service charge that is included in full service (traditional) offerings like a Church, Chapel or Graveside service. The percentage of this charge allocated to a selection like Direct Cremation is at the discretion of the owner of the funeral home. Some funeral homes arbitrarily allocate an amount less than this services costs in order to understate the price of their Direct Cremation charge. This practice means that the traditional families that the funeral home serves will subsidize the cost of the direct cremation selection. We don't think this is fair to any of the families we serve...so we don't price that way.
